Peace 2022
Vernon Armitage   -

This Sunday we will continue with the Advent messages and this week it is about “Peace.” Our world is in dire need of peace. There has been conflict and war since Adam and Eve sinned. Over the years there have been false claims of peace. The Prophet Jeremiah warned of false prophets that claimed they offered peace. He said, “They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace “ (Jeremiah 6:14). Our world today tries to manage peace but can’t fix it.

Before Jesus went to the cross, he told the disciples he would be leaving them, and they were terrified. But Jesus said these words which we will unpack this Sunday, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27). This is the peace everyone is longing for, but few find it because they are looking for a peace the world has to offer. Don’t miss this Sunday as we drill down into the meaning and experience of His peace.
