The Book of James 1
This week we begin our study of the letter of James. This letter has been loved by Christians for centuries, but not always for the same reasons. James does not write to react to specific issues in a church, but to proactively proclaim the kind of churches that are formed when people have gospel-saturated hearts.
James is New Testament wisdom literature—not life hacks or self-help. In other words, James is more gospel application than gospel explanation. James will tell us that grace leads to holiness and joy. James reminds us that Jesus is making all things new, for by his own will he has brought us forth through the word of truth, that we should be his firstfruits (1:18).
James writes to communities to be read in community that we would know the joy of encouraging one another in Christlikeness. Don’t miss out!
