Becoming (Audio)
Discipleship is about becoming. Jesus spent time with his disciples (students) to teach them about becoming a great person. After all, the only thing you take from this life on earth to the next life is you; who you have become—not your possessions, position or power but you as a person. This is the reason discipleship is so important. Life is a training ground of becoming. James and John missed the point of being a disciple of Jesus. They thought the new kingdom of Jesus was to rule over Rome. So, they asked for a foolish favor: “We want to sit on the thrones next to yours in your Kingdom.” Surprisingly, he did not reprimand them but told them how to be great in his kingdom. This Sunday we will unpack the lesson Jesus taught about become great. It will give practical insight on how we are doing in the training ground of life (discipleship) and how to REFOCUS.
