Hebrews 6
Tim Armitage   -

In life, we can often spot the markers of immaturity, usually in reflection on our own lives—the things we valued or said, the ways we lived or acted. It is much harder, however, to recognize the markers of spiritual maturity. Hebrews 6 helps us in this. The author of Hebrews consistently points us to find our value and purpose in the finished work of Jesus Christ instead of our performance.

Maturity in Jesus never sounds like, “Do more and try harder.” Instead, it sounds like, “My burden is light, and my yoke is easy” (Matt. 11). Jesus calls us into habits of trusting and obeying him—a thought at a time, a conversation at a time, a day at a time. In Christ, we discover a new world of growth, hope, and love—a world that promises to make us the people God designed us to be.
