There’s nothing like that first refreshing sip of ice-cold lemonade after a long day out in the hot sun (maybe at a Royals game!). The cool relief and bittersweet taste that you experience quench your thirst and bring a smile to your face.
When we are really thirsty, the only thing we can think about is when we’ll be able to drink. It’s hard to focus on the task at hand when your mouth is dry and in need of water! We need water to survive, and it has been a vital part of human existence.
Water is also a recurring and important motif throughout the Scriptures. We see God and humans use it to cleanse, baptize, and even destroy. This Sunday, we’ll look at the story of the woman at the well to discover the invitation and challenge Jesus gives us when He talks about “living water.”
