Palm Sunday
Tim Armitage   -

General Dwight Eisenhower did not row a boat to the Normandy beaches. Norman Schwarzkopf did not ride a camel into Kuwait. But the Eternal King of glory rode a donkey into Jerusalem to liberate humanity from the most oppressive enemy we could ever know – sin and death. Jesus’ triumphal entry was accompanied by shouts for his coronation. Few, if any, anticipated his crown to be of thorns.

Jesus’ Kingship confuses us as much as a battle hero on a farm animal, but it is not by accident. Jesus wants our surprise to draw our focus to what he is actually accomplishing as our Servant King. He calls us to the paradox of Christian living that we may know the joy of serving with him.

Don’t miss this Sunday as we look at the beginning of Holy Week – seven days from the cross.
