Patience 2

Following Jesus is a journey that is designed to take a lifetime. We become who God made us to be through a long obedience in the same direction. That direction doesn’t always make sense to us. In fact, it often seems counterintuitive, especially in a culture that promises overnight delivery, DoorDash dinners, and instant downloads.

So, how does a Christian become like Christ in a culture that refuses to wait for anything? The answer is the spiritual fruit of patience. Unfortunately, that’s the last thing we have time for. Our meditation becomes an app on our phone, and our discipleship becomes a podcast. But all we become is angry. We are angry because holiness hurts, and prayer never seems to connect as quickly as we need it to.
