The Gospel of John – 2/11/24
Tim Armitage   -

If you were asked, “What does it look like to follow Jesus?” you could probably generate a list of a few activities, attitudes, and dispositions that you feel characterize a follower of Christ. Of course, our actions are important (James 2), but our actions are not powerful enough to form our identity or shape our desires. Only one thing has that kind of power – worship. What we worship is who we are and controls what we desire.

John 12:1—8 is a case study of identity and desire. In these verses we learn that our wisdom and our economy naturally run contrary to the commands of Jesus. Join us this Sunday as we unpack the dinner party in Bethany and see the contentment and joy available to those who prize the person and presence of Jesus above all else.
