The Parables of the Lost Sheep, Coin, and Son (Audio)
This Sunday we unpack one of the most familiar stories of Jesus. It is actually three rapid-firing stories — the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son. The point of the stories is not the sheep, coin, or son, but it’s about the shepherd, woman, and father. In these stories, Jesus is describing God, the king of the eternal kingdom. Don’t underestimate the importance of stories that describe God. Here is why. According to A.W. Tozer, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us. We tend by a secret law of the soul to move toward our mental image of God.” In other words, if you have a faulty view of God, then your entire worldview will be out of whack.
