Vernon Armitage has served as Senior Pastor in three different churches over the past 61 years. He has authored several articles and the book, Living Life to the Max. As a team, Vernon and Charlene have helped churches throughout the United States and across Canada develop a biblical understanding of equipping and engaging volunteers in ministry.
Vernon began a new work with a church plant in the Village of Briarcliff in a borrowed storefront with five members in 2013. His vision was to see the new work become a vibrant church, impacting the northland and beyond. At the beginning of 2023, he passed the baton of leadership to Tim Armitage as Lead Pastor. Vernon is excited about being a Teaching Pastor with a passion to bring the scripture alive in a clear, compelling, and practical way. His passion extends to developing leaders, discipleship, and life-changing prayer.
Vernon and Charlene have two children, Kelly Huisenga (husband Larry, and two sons Logan and Noah). Their son Timothy is a graduate of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and serves as the Lead Pastor at Briarcliff (wife Ashley, and two sons Crosby and Christian).
